4th Gay Men’s Health Summit
Thursday October 30 and Friday October 31, 2008
UBC Robson Square, 800 Robson St., Vancouver
How will we get there?
Internet rising, community involvement fading, HIV resurgent…
It’s time to reorient gay health action!
At the last Summit, we probed what it will take. Consensus was we need tactics for the full breadth of health determining factors. Promoting gay health means involving gay men in:
- Creating supportive environments
- Developing personal skills
- Increasing community capacity
- Securing an action infrastructure
- Promoting social responsibility for health
Cultural transformation is upon us. We urgently need to consider our strategy, scope and practice.
At this year’s Summit, tell us what you are doing, tell us what you want to do. And consider, how will we get there?
Please download the Call for Presenters and send in your abstract by September 5, 2008.
The BC Gay Men’s Health Summit is an annual meeting for all those whose health work touches on gay men and other men who have sex with men – to consider where we are, what we’re doing and where we’re headed.
This is a collaborative planning initiative of the Community Based Research Centre in partnership with the BC Centre for Disease Control and HIM – Health Initiative for Men. Funding is provided by the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Province of British Columbia. Media support is provided by Xtra West.
